Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness Ending and Post-Credits Scenes Explained: Is He Dead…?

MADRID, May 7. (CultureLeisure) –

the magic of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ arrives ready to cast a spell at the box office. The film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen It has caused a real earthquake in the UCM. The irruption of the multiverse, as well as the appearance of new characters and unexpected surprises have left not only a heart-stopping movie ending, but also two revealing post-credits scenes (albeit in very different ways).

To explain the ending of Sam Raimi’s film, it’s time to go a little further back. After what America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) came to the main universe of the UCM where Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) is witnessing the wedding of his beloved Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), now called Earth-616, together with the demon Gargantos, whom the Master of the Mystic Arts defeats.

After the young woman reveals that her ability, which she still does not know how to control, is to cross universes, Strange returns to see the complexity of the concept of the multiverse. After the incident with Gargantos, he decides to consult with the only being who has a similar or greater mastery of magic: Wanda Maximoff (Olsen).

To Strange’s horror, Maximoff turns out to be responsible for sending that demon to Chavez (which also caused the death of Doctor Strange, the one known as Defender Strange, from the universe in which the young woman was). What has made Wanda a villain is her desire to possess the powers of America.because the ability to jump from one universe to another will allow travel to another alternate reality in which to find his sons, Billy and Tommy, and live with them as a happy family.

Stephen, of course, refuses to participate in such a wicked enterprise, causing Wanda, who has also been corrupted by the sinister effects of the Darkhold, the Book of the Damned, give him an ultimatum: Either she hands over Chavez or she’ll go look for her at the Kamar-Taj, the mystical center of the MCU where Strange and Wong hide the young woman, and will raze the place where Strange and other wizards learned their powers.

After killing several wizards, the almighty and almost unstoppable Scarlet Witch finds Americabut when all seems lost he and America jump uncontrollably through various realities and are sent to another universe, with the Scarlet Witch in pursuit.

Stephen and America land on Earth-838where they meet the Illuminati, a kind of governing body of superheroes of that world, which is made up of Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski), Mary Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), the Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) black-bolt (Anson Mount) and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The Illuminati explain to him that he has caused an ‘incursion’, causing entire universes to collapse in on themselves.

There he discovers that its variant on Earth-838 was very dangerous and the Strange of that reality had to be killed by his fellow superheroes. Since Mordo considers the Earth-616 version to be just as threatening, he believes that she should be executed. Nevertheless, Before the Illuminati render a verdict, Wanda, who has possessed her variant on Earth-838, brutally murders all members of the Illuminati.except Mordo.

Helped by the variant of Christine Palmer from Earth-838, Strange and Chavez flee. The goal is to find the Book of Vishanti, the luminous antithesis of the Darkhold, but Maximoff bursts in and, after taking over America’s mind, uses her powers to send the others to a universe destroyed by the raid, where Stephen must face a variant of his that is corrupted by the Darkhold. (which has made him have a third eye).

After defeating his dark variant, Strange is forced to use the Darkhold to control a version of himself on Earth-616., which causes him to end up using the corpse of Doctor Strange who died at the beginning of the tape. Defender Strange’s zombie manages to help Chavez fight Maximoff.

When America sees that it is impossible to dominate Wanda, she chooses to use her powers to transport her to Earth-838.which allows her children Billy and Tommy to witness her evil, who reject her and they beg to see their real motherthe Scarlet Witch variant of 838.

Realizing his mistake and how the Darkhold is capable of corrupting even the purest of spirits, the Scarlet Witch sacrifices herself and uses her powers to bring down Mount Wundagore and destroy all copies of the Book of the Damned that exist in every universe. In principle the Wanda of the UCM, the version of Earth 616 would have died with this last decision, but this end is not confirmed and his fate is still uncertain.

In the end, everything seems solved. America begins training as a sorceress at the Kamar-Taj and Strange develops a third eye, fruit of the use of the Darkhold. This is when the first question arises, this variant of the Master of the Mystic Arts will manage to avoid being corrupted?

And this is where you have to analyze the two post-credits scenes that the film contains. The first features a new character joining the UCM roster, Clea (Charlize Theron) who is revealed to be a Sorceress Supreme, but from another dimension. “You caused a raid and we have to fix it… unless you’re scared“, explains the witch and he, after responding affirmatively, goes with her to a portal that takes them to a dimension that closely resembles the scenario in which Strange faced Dormammu.

Clea, who in the comics is Dormammu’s niece and was Doctor Strange’s wife, joins the squad. She now she has to talk about the another post-credits scenewhich is relevant from the point of view of the film director’s stamp of authorship.

At this point we must remember that in the second act of the film, when they arrive on Earth-838, Stephen and America meet a traveling salesman of Pizza Poppa (Bruce Campbell), who accuses the young woman of stealing the pizza balls he is eating, Strange casts a spell on the individual to beat himself up for three weeks. The post-credits scene shows how those three weeks have passed and the guy has been able to free himself from the enchantment..

Fun sequence and away from any revealing data for the future of the UCM, remember Campbell’s close collaboration with Raimi. The actor was the main protagonist of his saga ‘Evil Dead (Infernal Possession)’, by embodying the iconic Ash Williams. The interpreter also had cameos in the filmmaker’s Spider-Man trilogy, so it seemed clear that he could not miss this marvelous appointment.
