Arrival in Strasbourg

Strasbourg is located directly behind the German-French border and is therefore a very interesting starting point for cheap tickets, especially for residents of south-west Germany. The journey from Strasbourg train station to the airport SXB takes just 10 minutes and costs around 5€.

With Deutsche Bahn you can book a ticket from Germany to Strasbourg with just a few clicks, sometimes even directly to the airport. You can reach the airport from, for example, Karlsruhe, Freiburg or Stuttgart in less than two hours. From Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Würzburg, … you can also travel to Strasbourg with the Flixbus – from just €7 one-way. Of course, arriving by car is also an option.

Lufthansa offers its own long-distance bus connection from Strasbourg to Frankfurt/Main. This is carried out like a flight, so you must be able to check in online up to 15 minutes before departure and be able to print out your boarding pass or show it on your smartphone. If you let the bus ride expire, the connecting flight also expires.

First, the Lufthansa bus takes you to Frankfurt in economy class seats. You have the option of visiting the Business Class Lounge in Frankfurt before you fly to northern Norway in an Airbus A319.

Note that it is not possible to simply let the 1st segment from Strasbourg to Frankfurt expire and only board in Frankfurt. On the way back, you’re more likely to “miss” the bus. More on that in this article.
